Ngee Ann Secondary, a Government-Aided school, was founded in 1994 by Ngee Ann Kongsi, a Teochew clan body in Singapore which has a rich past stretching back to the 1840s. In spite of its short history, Ngee Ann Secondary has a reputation for excellence and enviable track records in both the academic and non-academic areas.
It is currently the youngest school in Singapore to be accorded the prestigious Autonomous School status. The award gives the school a competitive edge as it enjoys additional funding from the Ministry of Education (MOE) and greater autonomy in running its programmes. The school's other laudable achievements include the Best Practice Award For Teaching & Learning, People Developer Award and Singapore Quality Class (SQC) Award. These recognitions by MOE and other government agencies are strong endorsements of the high quality programmes that the school has put in place.
The school is committed to providing a balanced and holistic education for all students as it works towards the school's vision of becoming "An Icon of Excellence & the Pride of the Community".
